DOGS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION
The Animal Shelter has certain limitations, both legal and physical, as to the number of dogs it can house at any given time. A violation of these rules runs a high risk of legal problems and the greater risk of a wildfire of infection should a contagion arise with one dog, well, you get the picture.

Also, the shelter only accepts stray, abandoned and abused dogs, not pets who already have a home.

The purpose of this page is to allow people who have a dog that needs a home (maybe you are fostering a stray or some puppies), for whatever reason, to showcase the dog(s).

Here is how it works (rules if you will):

1. Send an email with a good digital picture of the dog to  Lakesidefosterdogs@yahoo.com The better the picture, the better chance of finding a home.

2. In your email, describe the dog above what can be seen in the picture, ie: Breed (or mix), age, sex, spayed/neutered?. Any special needs; disposition (shy, friendly, gets along with other dogs, cats, children, good guard dog, housebroken, etc. If there is any story about the dog that you think will touch someone's heart, tell it.

3. Say where you are located and give a way to contact you, including hours for contact.

4. As a courtesy, if you place the dog, let us know so we can remove the information (and people won't bother you).

5. Dogs only; Barb at the Animal Shelter does cat intakes.

6. Please check your spelling, grammar and punctuation, as it will be put in without changes.

7. Do NOT contact the Animal Shelter with questions about this page, any dog shown on this page or anything else relating to this page; the Animal Shelter has no information about the dogs shown here or the person(s) offering them. Direct any inquiries to the email address above.

Note: There is no charge to place  a dog on this page, it would be really appreciated if the dog is placed as a result of this service, you drop off a small donation at the Shelter and mention you had a dog adopted because of this page.

From Chapala Haciendas:

Buster, so lovingly named by some of our neighbors on lower Codornices has been living on the streets for the last several weeks. The residents have been feeding and supplying water for him. Buster is a gentle sweet boy who desperately needs a good home. He has been brought to Dr. Pepe for medical care for his rear left leg and to be neutered. He will be with Dr. Pepe until we can find a home for him. If anyone has room for this sweet dog please call 765-7625 or you can see him at Dr. Pepe's. Thank you
DISCLAIMER: The Lakeside Animal Shelter, A.C. takes no responsibility with respect to any dog put here or adopted as a result of this page. Each person using this service should do so after making their own inquiries.

I thought I would explain my story after I was rescued.  I am now 4 years old and I was rescued one year ago by Shar in San Juan Cosala from her neighbor. I was at the neighbor's house for a week.  I had been beaten badly. It resulted with an injured back and bruising all over my body.  I am fully recovered and because I am a Border Collie my spirit is not broken. Shar found a good home for me a year ago with a woman, named Ann, that owns a horse ranch called Rancho Indio.  She has several tiny dogs but they don't interest me.  Because Anne doesn't drive or have a car, I don't get to go many places.  My most favorite activities in the world are to go in the car and hike.  I was becoming very depressed because I couldn't do my favorite things.  Ann couldn't let me follow her on the ranch because it is just too much fun for me to chase the chickens.

Because I am a Border Collie I need stimulation.  Ann calls me Louie but Shar calls me King Louie because she thinks I have class. Ann called Shar and asked her if she knew anyone that would love me and give me the activities I need.  She worries about my happiness and told her how depressed I have been. Shar started bringing me to her house to play and go hiking twice a week. When I see Shar coming, I get so excited to go in her car.  I especially like her Border Collie but he is older and has back problems so he won't play too much with me.  I like chasing Shar around the yard and then she turns around and chases me.  Before we go to her house she brings two of her alternating dogs and we all go for a nice long walk.  That is soooo much fun!  Shar plays ball and with toys with the four dogs at her house.  I still don't understand toys and a ball yet. Ann told Shar that when I return I am not tired. I am excited and run around the house with so much enthusiasm.

Shar is posting this for me and I do need a home with someone that really likes to take me places and likes to walk. I like men and women.  I am loving to everyone, I haven't bothered Shar's cats but I am curious about them--strange looking creatures.  Ann says that I will only go to someone that will keep me with them and love me forever.  You won't be sorry if you do.  I am a great companion to someone that likes to be active with a dog. I also like to just be calm and sit by your side to pet me.  I am housebroken, neutered, have shots and truly (I must say) I am a perfect gentleman.

If you and I are the perfect match, please respond and you can some see me at Anne's house.  Shar can only allow me to come to her house to visit until May because she is moving back to the States.

You can email me at Ann's, ranchoindio@prodigy.net.mx, or call Ann at (045) 331-251-8583.  I live behind the first Pemex Station West of Ajijic.
